School Holiday Program

Bring your children along to one of our awesome school holiday activities from Monday 30 September through to Friday 11 October.

There's something for everyone: budding gardeners, plant and animal lovers and crafty types!

Whatever your little one is in to, each event has been designed to promote fun, hands-on learning about plants, animals and the environment.

Suitable for 5-13 year olds but parents will enjoy the activities too!

Please note that all children must be accompanied by a parent/caregivers at all times. Tickets are only required for children - parent/caregiver attends FREE.

Parents are encouraged to book early – spots will sell out!

Capture Adelaide and Wittunga Botanic Garden’s stunning spring displays on your own mobile device!

Learn how to use your smartphone or tablet to take photos in the garden, including macro photography techniques using a 30x lens attachment (provided). Also learn to edit your photos using mobile apps.

Healthy gardeners

Let your children get their hands dirty in the Little Sprouts Kitchen Garden.

Kids will have the opportunity to plant and harvest vegetables and hold wriggly worms from our worm farm.

It's the perfect way to learn how growing your own food at home is fun and good for your health

Aboriginal plant use

Join Trent, Indigenous storyteller, educator and guide, on a fascinating walk through beautiful Adelaide or Wittunga Botanic Garden. 

Explore the traditional uses of plants by Aboriginal people, and find out how nature and the surroundings would influence where Aboriginal people lived depending on the season.

Botanical Treasure hunt

Embark on a treasure hunt to learn about some weird and wonderful fruits produced by different trees in Adelaide Botanic Garden. Ever heard of a sausage tree? 

Children and parents will work together by following a map around the Garden to unravel clues that solve the Plant Hunter’s riddle.

Wilbur's Wildlife Show

Get up close and personal with a range of wildlife, including snakes, lizards, insects, frogs and sugar gliders.

Learn about the biology and habitat of some native animals, how to hold and care for them, and what you can do to help make sure their environment is safe from harm.

Enjoy a walk through Adelaide Botanic Garden to learn which animals call these beautiful landscapes home, how they live and what threats they face in the wild.

Bushland babies

Create bushland babies and cute critters to take home using curious botanical seeds and pods collected from around the Botanic Garden.

Children and caregivers work together to combine leaves, sticks and googly eyes to bring imagined creatures to life!

Not suitable for children under 6 years due to the use of hot glue.
