The Botanic Gardens of South Australia's education team delivers teacher professional development sessions for all staff throughout the year, from pre-school to senior secondary, covering a wide range of concepts.
All sessions are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers Framework, with certificates of attendance issued upon completion.

Supercharge your knowledge and skills with the Adelaide Botanic Garden as part of Teachers' Big Days Out (TBDO)!
TBDO is a 3-day professional learning event for educators presented by South Australian cultural organisations with the support of the Department for Education. The program includes over 90 sessions across multiple learning areas and year levels, aligned to the curriculum.
The Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium of South Australia (BGSH) is excited to host two workshops as part of the event program focused on conservation and sustainability.

- Learn the difference between honey bees and Australian bees
- Understand why bees are of such importance globally
- Explore hot to encourage native bees to your school or home garden
- Build your own bee hotel
Where science meets conservation and education
- Go behind the scenes as the South Australian Seed Conservation Centre labs
- Learn about collection, researching and banking of our local plant seeds, many of which are threatened or endangered
- Explore concepts such as seed structure, dispersal and conditions required for germination, plant recruitment, symbiotic relationships and plant biodiversity
These workshops will provide educators with insights into the collections, resources and expertise within our organisation, practical strategies to incorporate into their learning programs and opportunities to share ideas and network with colleagues.
