The Botanic Gardens of South Australia's education team delivers teacher professional development sessions for all staff throughout the year, from pre-school to senior secondary, covering a wide range of concepts.
All sessions are aligned to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers Framework, with certificates of attendance issued upon completion.
We offer professional development sessions either at the botanic gardens or at your site.

Kitchen Garden Educator Workshop

For: Pre-school to Year 7 educators
Where: Adelaide Botanic Garden - Goodman Building Lecture Room and Little Sprouts Kitchen Garden
Cost: $80 (+ booking fee if booked online), via Eventbrite (SOLD OUT)
Join us for a professional learning workshop which aims to support and inspire educators to connect children with kitchen gardens.
This year’s program will include:
- Jon Lamb (ABC Adelaide Talkback Gardening) - sunlight, shade and water - gardening and the seasons.
- Ian Wilson (Kitchen Garden Educator, Botanic Gardens & State Herbarium of South Australia) - edible gardens on a small scale.
- Karen Hogan (Department for Education) - Gardens of Wonder - STEM Learning in the kitchen garden.
- NRM Education - establishing and maintaining kitchen gardens in a school setting with links to learning.
The workshop will also be an opportunity to connect and share practice with fellow educators from other sites.
This professional development is aligned with the Australian National Teaching Standards and a certificate of attendance will be issued.
