Footy and Aussie rock fans, rejoice – Jimmy Barnes and the 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final are coming to Botanic Park in October.
The official AFL-sanctioned family-friendly event will take place in the park on Saturday 1 October, with the Seven Network broadcast of the big game played live on huge LED super screens in full HQ stadium sound. Then, for the after match entertainment, some of Australia’s biggest rock legends will perform live in concert, including Jimmy Barnes, The Angels and Jon Stevens.
The action kicks off at midday with pre-match entertainment and food and drink stalls and bars, and rides and games for the kids.
The 2016 Toyota AFL Grand Final Record and official merchandise will be on sale, while AFL player skills classes, longest kick and best speccy competitions – and the chance to mix with past and present AFL champions – will be on offer.
The party continues post-game with the concert kicking off at 5:30pm, headlined by the one and only Jimmy Barnes.
Kids under 12 receive free entry, and tickets go on sale at 9am, Friday August 5. Head to Ticketek for ticketing information.
The event adds to the Botanic Gardens of South Australia’s calendar of world-class event partnerships, including WOMADelaide – Australia’s recently-crowned Best Contemporary Music Festival – and Moonlight Cinema.
"Adelaide knows how to party, and Grand Final day is no exception," says Jimmy Barnes.
"We’ll rock Botanic Park like never before so hopefully they’ll hear us all the way from the MCG! It’s going to be great to see all the footy fans in the one place celebrating the Grand Final and having a good time."
