Pruning is fundamental to getting the best from your fruit trees, it allows you to control the fruit's size, shape and vigour. In this practical hands-on workshop, you will learn the pruning skills to maintain good fruit size, quality and quantity and to keep your fruit trees bearing fruit throughout their productive life.
This is an introductory fruit tree workshop where you will learn best practice principles for growing and maintaining fruit trees. Learn optimal growing conditions, how to prune for shape and size, correct pruning techniques and how to get the best from your fruit trees.
Learning from the past President of the Rare Fruit Society's Harry Harrison, you will learn first hand the best methods of starting to grow your own fruit trees, how best to maintain them and the best pruning techniques.
The workshop includes a field tour of Mount Lofty Botanic Garden's fruit and ornamental trees and a demonstration of the best pruning techniques to apply to new and old trees.
