Adelaide Botanic Garden shrinks for new ABC TV show
03 May 2022
Adelaide Botanic Garden has been shrunk down to fun-sized flowers, teensy trees and a petite Palm House for a new ABC TV show, Tiny Oz.
Date: Wednesday 25 May
Time: 10.30am - 12pm
Location: Adelaide Botanic Garden. Please meet at the Friends' Gate off Plane Tree Drive.
Join John Sandham from the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium, as he takes you on a guided tour through Adelaide Botanic Garden to learn about its most historically significant trees and plantings.
Since it opened as Adelaide Botanic Garden to the public in 1857, there have been countless changes to the space.
We’ve seen the construction and demolition of many buildings, and constant additions to its living plant collections.
With a focus on conservation, many plants now have global significance and importance.
Delve into the fascinating botanical history of the Garden on this leisurely stroll in this History Festival event.
The tour will take place outdoor in the Gardens, so please wear appropriate footwear (closed shoes) and dress to the weather conditions. The weather can be quite mild in the Gardens, with spontaneous light rain and wind from time to time, so we recommend bringing a suitable outdoor jacket.
Ticketed parking is available on Plane Tree Drive (off Hackney Road) and also available nearby on Rundle Road or the East End. Alternatively, catch the tram to the Botanic Garden stop which is 150m from the Main Gate.
Toilets and refreshments are available in the Garden.
The event will go ahead in wet weather and will only be cancelled in extreme weather conditions (ie. storms, hail). We will notify you prior to the event if it is cancelled and to reschedule the event. Refunds will only apply if the event is cancelled or you are not available to attend the rescheduled event.
Bitumen paths are provided throughout the garden, however patrons are advised that some of this tour takes place on grass surfaces and natural walking tracks.
• Practice good hygiene, wash your hands regularly, and utilize the hand sanitiser available while in the Garden.
• If you have any COVID-19 symptoms on the day of your booking, stay at home and contact our staff to discuss options.
