Presented by Umbrella Festival, Capital Waste Pictures, and the Botanic Gardens and State Herbarium as part of the Botanica Lumina program, and with generous support from SA Power Networks.
Experience the after-dark sights and sounds of Adelaide Botanic Garden like never before in this special Nature Festival closing event.
Local sound engineer and noise artist, Michael Ellingford, has teamed up with Liam Somerville, video artist and cinematographer from Capital Waste Pictures, to bring you the next highly anticipated installment on the enchanting Botanica Lumina calendar - a unique night time audio-visual experience.
Lounge back on the springtime lawns and enjoy colourful projections as they light up the botanical backdrop in awe-inspiring beauty.
Listen as real-life sound recordings of Adelaide Botanic Garden are transformed into their own soundtrack, remixed with music and synchronised to the mesmerising light projections.
Treat your ears to the natural sounds of leaves rustling in the breeze, nocturnal animals stirring and water flowing as they are combined with music in audio artistry.
During the evening, you’ll also have a rare chance to explore the recently re-opened Amazon Waterlily Pavilion and Santos Museum of Economic Botany at night to see their plants, collections and architecture in illuminated beauty.
The light and sound installations will run as a continuous loop across the three hour time frame, giving you the flexibility to arrive and head off when it suits you.
This event is made for young and old, so bring the kids, pack a rug and picnic (or pre-purchase a gourmet box of delectable goodies from the Gardens Café and Kiosk), and relax and unwind on the lawns.
Or gather your friends and catch up for this magical experience, stay for a drink or two under the stars and take your time enjoying the illuminations.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to see your favourite garden in a whole new light as we officially re-ignite the Botanica Lumina program!
