Join staff from the Botanic Gardens and Connected Self for an immersive professional learning experience exploring the powerful relationship between nature, wellbeing and learning. Plus, hear from the teaching team at St Peters ELC about the impact that incorporating nature walks has made to their classroom dynamics.  

Grounded in current research and brought to life through hands-on experiences, this workshop will explore how connecting with nature can support wellbeing for both educators and students. Participants will discover practical, nature-based wellbeing strategies that can be incorporated into everyday teaching practice, while experiencing the Botanic Gardens as a living learning environment. 

Throughout the day, you will: 

  • Explore the impact of nature connection on wellbeing, mental health and sense of self. 
  • Take part in evidence-informed wellbeing practices led by psychologists and nature therapists from Connected Self. 
  • Explore practices that that can be adapted for classrooms and school settings. 
  • Participate in activities and hands-on nature experiences included in Botanic Gardens learning programs.  
  • Hear from teachers who have altered their curriculum to centre nature-based learning. 
  • Reflect on ways to include nature connection in your own curriculum.  

Leave feeling refreshed, inspired and equipped with practical approaches to integrate nature-based education that supports wellbeing and learning in your school community. 

Accessibility: Participants will cover an estimated 2.5km walking throughout the day. This includes sealed pathways, unsealed sawdust pathways and some minor inclines. 

Light morning tea will be provided.
