In celebration of the internationally acclaimed Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, we're inviting amateur photographers to enter the Wild Side Photography Competition.

One lucky winner will have their photograph printed and framed, thanks to Atkins Print, and enjoy a family pass to Gather in the Garden, coming to Adelaide Botanic Garden this Summer.

Capture the beauty, detail and diversity found at Adelaide, Mount Lofty or Wittunga Botanic Garden. Whether your subject is a rare or endangered plant, a native bird, a dramatic landscape or a fleeting moment in nature, we want to see how you see the Botanic Gardens!

This competition is open to photographers of all skill levels, ages 16 and over.

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. Visit and take a photograph at Adelaide Botanic Garden, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden or Wittunga Botanic Garden.
  2. Share your image on Instagram.
  3. Make sure to tag @botanicgardenssa and use the hashtag #WildSidePhotoComp 

Competition open from Friday 25 September to Monday 30 November.

Winners announced on Friday 4 December. 

 

Under 16? Don't worry - KIDS ONLY COMP: Coming this School Holidays!  

This school holidays, we are running the Wild Side Photography Competition for our young and emerging photographers.  

We've seen how the adults see the Botanic Gardens, now we want to see what our young visitors find exciting, curious, interesting and beautiful at the Botanic Gardens.  

Start snapping from and download our Nature Photography Scavenger Hunt to use around the Gardens if you need a bit of inspiration!  

One lucky winner will have their photograph printed and framed, thanks to Atkins Print, and an extra prize (to be confirmed).  

HOW TO ENTER:

  1. Visit and take a photograph at Adelaide Botanic Garden, Mount Lofty Botanic Garden or Wittunga Botanic Garden.
  2. Get a trusted adult to email us at DEW.BotanicCompetitions@sa.gov.au
  3. Make sure to include the photographers name, age and which garden you visited for your chance to win!  

Competition open from Friday 11 December to Monday 25 January 2027.  

Winners announced on Friday 29 January 2027.
