Date posted: 01 November 2013

Garden Blitz at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden will be held again on Saturday 9 November and record numbers of community volunteers are expected to attend.

“Every year this event gets more and more popular, with previous attendees always keen to come back and wanting to bring new family and friends to enjoy the experience with them” said Botanic Gardens of South Australia Director, Stephen Forbes.

The Garden Blitz is a great opportunity for volunteers to spend a morning outdoors with friends and family while contributing to the longevity of the picturesque Mount Lofty Botanic Garden.

Volunteers will work along side Gardens’ staff and be involved in tasks including mulching, soil spreading, weeding and other light gardening. Participants will also meet fellow gardening enthusiasts, share their knowledge and learn new ideas from our horticulture staff.

“Though we have hosted a few Garden Blitz days at Mount Lofty Botanic Garden, we are always amazed by the significant amount of work done by our volunteers. It is great seeing past participants who had a great time at previous Blitzes return and new volunteers from the community joining us for the first time”, said Mr Forbes.

The Garden Blitz will commence at 8:30am at the Arboretum in Mount Lofty Botanic Garden. The event concludes at 12noon with a sausage sizzle provided by staff to thank volunteers for their contribution.

All volunteers are required to register their participation online prior to the Garden Blitz. Online registrations are open now and close 5pm Friday 8 November. There is a 75 volunteer capacity so register soon to avoid disappointment.

Register now.
