Lovers of plants and music alike can rejoice at Adelaide Botanic Garden on Saturday, September 12 (12-1pm), with Adelaide Youth Strings set to fill the air with inspiring melodies.

Adelaide Youth Orchestras’ primary school aged string orchestra will transform the Garden – their free one-hour recital of classical, folk and world music, on the lawns near Botanic Gardens Restaurant, adding another dimension to the sights and smells of vibrant spring blooms.

Spread out a picnic rug and become engrossed in the talent of 50 of South Australia’s most promising young string musicians (aged eight-to-13), or simply stroll around the Garden with beautiful tunes providing the soundtrack to your visit.

“We love coming to Adelaide Botanic Garden to perform live music in beautiful surrounds with the magnificent scents of flowers and plants,” Adelaide Youth Orchestras General Manager Christopher Mainwright says.

Adelaide Youth Strings is conducted by Adelaide Symphony Orchestra violist Martin Butler. The talented youngsters have been visiting Adelaide Botanic Garden annually since 2012.
